About Color Tools
Fast, free color utilities built on one hard rule: whatever you pick, convert or test never leaves your browser. Here is who makes them, why, and how the site stays free.
The mission
Color Tools exists to answer one small, recurring need well: you have a color — in a photo, a mockup, a CSS file, a brand guide — and you need to pick it, translate it or test it, right now. Without creating an account, installing anything or waiting for a heavyweight app to load. Every tool on this site is free, works on a phone as well as on a desktop, and tries to be the fastest route from question to answer.
100% client-side — and why that matters
Everything here runs in your browser. When you open an image in the color picker or the palette extractor, your browser reads the file locally and renders it on your own machine. There is no upload step, no processing server, and no copy of your file anywhere but your device — we could not look at your images even if we wanted to.
That guarantee matters more for color tools than for most utilities, because the images people inspect are often personal: selfies used to find a flattering skin-tone palette, unreleased product shots, client work under NDA. A promise not to misuse uploads is weaker than the certainty that uploads never happen. The same goes for plain values — colors you type or convert are never transmitted, and saved colors live only in your browser’s localStorage, which you can clear at any time.
No dark patterns
You will not find the usual growth tricks here: no forced sign-up before you can export, no watermark stamped on your palettes, no “pro” paywall in front of a feature that already works, no nagging pop-ups. If a tool is on this site, all of it works — for everyone, every time.
A small family of focused tools
Color Tools is made by the same maker as json-formatter.org, a set of free JSON tools built on the same recipe: pages that load fast, do one job well, run entirely client-side and respect the visitor. The two sites share their engineering foundations, which keeps both of them lean and reliable.
How the site is funded
Domains, hosting and development time cost money. Right now the site shows no ads and runs no analytics. To keep every tool free, unobtrusive ads may be introduced in the future; if that happens, they will stay out of the tool areas and visitors in the EU will see a proper consent dialog first. The privacy policy describes this honestly and in detail.
Feedback
Found a bug, missing a conversion, or have an idea for a tool that should exist? Please send a note — feedback genuinely shapes what gets built next.
